The Oregon Ducks had two former stars find new homes in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, but not without a few surprises. Kenyon Sadiq landed in an unusual spot with the New York Jets at No. 16 overall, while Dillon Thieneman fell further than expected and wound up with the Chicago Bears at No. 25.
The Ducks extended their streak of first-round picks to seven years in a row and had multiple players selected in the opening round for the second year in a row. However, guard Emmanuel Pregnon, who had been forecasted in some mock drafts as a potential late first-round pick, slipped by the first 32 picks and is still waiting to hear his name called as Day 2 begins.
Pregnon might not have to wait very long once the second round begins on Friday night. ESPN's Matt Miller released his mock draft for the second and third rounds and projects Pregnon to be selected by the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 54 overall. Only two guards were taken in the first round, and Miller projects one more guard to be taken in the second round before Pregnon, making the former Duck the fourth guard selected.
"Talk of a potential retirement from Landon Dickerson should have the Eagles thinking long term at guard," Miller wrote. "Pregnon had fans in NFL scouting departments thinking he might go late in Round 1."
In Philadelphia, Pregnon's strengths as a run blocker would help the Eagles at either guard spot to create rushing lanes for Saquon Barkley, and he could protect Jalen Hurts. The Eagles have been rumored to make big changes in the offseason to their offense, but they are also a contender to win the NFC East and potentially make it back to the Super Bowl.
Pregnon began his career at Wyoming, where he spent three seasons before transferring to USC. After establishing his dominance in the Big Ten at guard in two seasons in Los Angeles, Pregnon transferred one more time to the Ducks and solidified himself as a coveted draft pick in Eugene. The Oregon guard earned a first-team All-American selection after bullying defenses on the ground all season.
While Pregnon will be the first Oregon lineman off the board, offensive tackles Isaiah World and Alex Harkey could hear their names called in the later rounds. Pregnon is the only Duck projected to be selected on Day 2 of the NFL draft, but it is possible nickel corner Jadon Canady, linebacker Bryce Boettcher or wideout Malik Benson slip into the back of the third round.
