The Philadelphia Phillies rebounded nicely from their disastrous start to the year.

Now, they appear to once again be National League contenders. They've received amazing offensive output from Brandon Marsh in left field.

Marsh ranks fourth in the Majors with a .324 batting average. Justin Crawford has experienced his ups and downs in his rookie season in center field and at the plate.

However, the Phillies lost right fielder Adolis Garcia for at least the next two months when it was announced that he had a torn right lat. Will the Phillies make a significant move at the deadline because of Garcia's absence?

The Athletic's Jim Bowden reports that the Phillies will be aggressive in their search for another "impact" outfielder.

"I’m being told by GMs that the Phillies’ front office is on the prowl for an impact outfielder," Bowden wrote. "I think [Byron] Buxton would be an excellent trade target if he waives his no-trade clause. I also think Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu of the Red Sox would be strong fits."

Abreu is an intriguing name for the Phillies to consider. The left-handed hitter is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner and can fill in seamlessly in right field while offering more with the bat than Garcia.

He cooled down after a scorching hot start to the season, but has an 117 OPS+ with eight homers and a 2.6 bWAR in 68 games.

Abreu is under contract until 2030 with the Red Sox, so this would not be a short-term stay in Philadelphia.

Obviously, that means the Phillies would have to pay a little more bang for their buck. But, likely, they would rather do that than rely on Derek Hill and Gabriel Rincones Jr.
