The Philadelphia Phillies are 8-11 on the season, and there are a lot of concerns following their blowout loss at the hands of the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.

Following the 9-0 defeat, the Phillies fell behind the Washington Nationals in the NL East, but fortunately are still a game and a half up on the New York Mets amid their nine-game losing streak.

However, the Phillies are the worst team in Major League Baseball in one simple statistic that is very concerning about their future: run differential.

Phillies last in MLB in run differential

Through the Phillies' first 19 games of the season, they own a brutal -34 run differential, which is the worst in all of Major League Baseball.

Second worst in the league is the Chicago White Sox, which owns a -33 run differential this season despite having a 7-13 record.

The Phillies are a game and a half better than the White Sox, yet they have a worse run differential. Not only are the Phillies losing games, but they're getting blown out.

Recently, things have gone terribly. They were blown out 10-4 and then 11-2 by the Chicago Cubs, and lost 9-0 to the Braves on Friday night.

With a struggling offense, other than Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, the Phillies are struggling to score runs. They're 24th in MLB in runs scored this season, while allowing the third-most runs in baseball.

Their offense needs to be a lot better, but the pitching staff cannot stay this bad if the Phillies want any chance of finding success this season.

Taijaun Walker has been a disaster, while Jesus Luzardo has struggled much more than he has for much of the last year or so with the Phillies.

It's still early in the season, and the Phillies can still turn things around. But if they cannot begin to change the tides soon, the 2026 season might turn into a disaster for the Phillies.
