The Philadelphia Phillies have built a roster that’s more than good enough to win, and their long-term outlook is just as promising due to some young talent. One of the most intriguing names in their farm system is infielder Aidan Miller, who has been dealing with a back injury in Spring Training.
While some prospects get called up quickly, Miller’s timeline seems to still be a few years away. The Phillies are in a position where they don’t need to rush him, but would like to have him up and producing if possible as soon as possible.
Miller has shown promising signs in the minors, both offensively and up the middle. The issue here regarding him making his debut is that he’s only 21 years old. Some prospects come up at 21, but it’s not like a ton do.
Evan Macy of PhillyVoice believes due to that and other factors, he won’t debut until 2027.
“The plan with Miller is likely to have him get regular at bats and develop further in Triple-A this season until Alec Bohm's contract expires, opening a spot for Miller in the infield. If things go well with Justin Crawford in center, it will be a similar formula for former first-round pick Miller — who slashed .264/.392/.433 split between Lehigh Valley and Reading,” he wrote.
Doing what Macy outlined would make sense.
By allowing Miller to develop before stepping into a starting role, the Phillies don’t have to worry about him coming up too early.
