Philadelphia Eagles named best land spot for top remaining free agent WR originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
When it comes to A.J. Brown's future with the Philadelphia Eagles, it seems like the writing is on the wall.
It appears very likely that Brown will be traded away from Philadelphia over the offseason and the Eagles have already begun to prepare for his departure.
Philadelphia used its first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to land an elite receiver prospect in Makai Lemon and they also added other veteran pass-catchers Hollywood Brown and Dontayvion Wicks. The Eagles might not be done bolstering the position, either.
Eagles named best landing spot for Jauan Jennings
Philadelphia was recently listed as the best landing spot for free agent wide receiver Jauan Jennings by Tyler Dragon of USA Today. Jennings is still looking for a new home in free agency after spending the first five seasons of his career with the San Francisco 49ers.
Jennings caught 55 passes for 643 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns with the Niners last season.
"The Eagles appear poised to trade A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots on or after June 1, when Brown's $40 million salary cap charge splits into two years. DeVonta Smith is more than capable of being Philly’s primary wideout, but he’s best as a Z receiver. First-round pick Makai Lemon is an ideal fit in the slot. Jennings could be inserted as the Eagles' X receiver," Dragon wrote.
"Jennings led all San Francisco wideouts in catches (55) and receiving yards (643) a season ago. He’s also a threat in the red zone. His nine touchdown receptions last year led San Francisco and were a career-high."
Given all the moves they've already made this offseason, the Eagles might already be set at wide receiver. Plus, there's no guarantee that Brown will be traded, although things certainly seem to be heading in that direction.
Even without Brown though, the group of Smith, [Hollywood] Brown, Lemon and Wicks is a solid core of receivers for Philadelphia.
