Should have over 35of cap space but Jones' franchise tag will take up almost half of that. Decision decisions.

Chandler is strange to me.

I see that PFF report saying how hes the 2nd most dominant pass rusher in the league behind Von Miller, and im like "He is?". Because I watch the games every sunday, and I dont notice Chandler all that often. Occasionally a sack or pressure. But they make it seem like hes on top of the QB every single snap, and I just dont see it.

During the off season the experts said all we needed was a pass rusher, turns out all we needed was a kicker.

Seeing what Jones, Calais, Golden, and crew have been able accomplish, there has to be a huge amount of temptation for the FO to do whatever it takes to try and keep that group together - for just one more season.

Obviously, there's the cap problem with that. But maybe not. What if Palmer and Fitz retire? That would clear up alot space. So depending on how much they spent to replace Palmer, it could be doable. And if they don't spend anything to replace Palmer, meaning Stanton FTW with a rookie behing him, then we'll need all the defense we can get.

I still don't understand why they didn't restructure/extend CC's deal this last year? It would have saved cap hit this year and been one less thing to do next offseason.

Age could be a factor. He's on the wrong side of 30 and the team could be looking at this like the Patriots do with their older vets and saying that getting rid of a guy a year too early is better than a year too late.

I'd rather have CC in the fold next season, but I can understand why Jones is a priority over CC. Top-tier pass rushers are harder to come by than top-tier interior defenders.

My guess is that the Cards will push hard to have Campbell and Jones signed for next year. Keim and Arians will want to try and reduce turnover as much as possible. Neither are into the concept of rebuilding.

Yup. Sums up my feelings too. He still has 6 games, but he seemed to be made out as a game changer on the line. Not sure he's really lived up to that per se. At 26 his best years should be coming up.

Hey, at least they got rid of Cooper.

They'll franchise Jones. He's good. Campbell I'm not sure how they work it out.

To be honest, I'm not sold on Cambell. He's okay, I used to be think he was awesome, earlier in his career, but now... He's not going to get better. He's what he is.

Weird thing is, we'd have been better off keeping Dan Williams than Cambell.

Lookout below if that's right. We basically need all of Campbell's cap space to field a roster next year.

There's no world in which this is true. Williams is playing about 30% of the defensive snaps for Oakland. Calais is playing more than 70% of ours.

True, but he commands double teams and he's a beast. He's actually a trade as advertised. That's rare. He's definitely the most talented player along the front. No disputing that. And he'll only improve.

He's a talent worth keeping.

Combine him with Okafor and we may have something. It's the defensive line that needs watching.

Chandler Jones has been a beast not just on QB pressures but he's been great against the run too.

If this was a good team, he'd be getting a ton of attention for the kind of year he's having, and his plays would pop a lot more. The Cards have gotten their moneys worth and more.

It's just that nobody remembers you getting 3 pressures and a sack late in games against the Vikings and Panthers when the rest of the team is playing like hot garbage.

Jones has dominated and been responsible for the improved play of the others. If they can't sign him they'll tag him. I suspect both Palmer (cut) and Fitz (retire) will create cap space. However that also means a major offensive rebuild and at Campbell's age and cost they will try to make do with Rucker and Nkemdiche. I'll miss CC, but that's the nature of the NFL. He's a class act!

It sucks, but better to let CC go a year or two early than overpay to keep him.

Would he take 5M a year to stay? Somehow I doubt it.

I personally do not see Palmer or Fitz going anywhere :)

Yeah , Palmer and Fitz are going nowhere unless either one decides to hang them up. Campbell is staying because I see the FO seeing him as similar to Fitz. They will tag Chandler. These 4 will suck up a sizeable portion of the cap. I don't see them changing how they do business and becoming more like the Patriots who treat it as a business.

Our best hope is Palmer and Fitz do retire creating a bunch of cap room. Then maybe they can sign Chandler to a long term contract.

There is absolutely zero chance Palmer gets cut, especially with no QBoF on the roster. I also don't think Palmer retires.
