PEORIA — The Peoria Rivermen got a key player back from the ECHL on the ice Tuesday, while setting up a key night off it with a discounted ticket promotion.
Rivermen center-winger Griffen Fox, who was called up by ECHL Bloomington on Dec. 30, was released by the class-AA team on Tuesday.
By Tuesday evening, he rejoined the Rivermen, for whom he has eight goals and seven assists with a +7 rating in 24 games.
Two of his goals have been game-winners.
In the ECHL, he appeared in eight of Bloomington's 12 games, notched one goal and had a -2 rating. He played in one game over the last nine days.
To clear roster room, the Rivermen released right wing Damon Furuseth.
The Rivermen, who have won 10 straight while on a 16-0-1 run to the top of the SPHL, still have several players on ECHL call-ups.
League No. 1-ranked goaltender Jack Bostedt is in Tahoe, winger Mike Gelatt is with Utah and center Garrett Devine is with Reading.
Peoria opens an eight-game, 25-day road trip with a pair of games at second-place Huntsville on Friday and Saturday.
The Rivermen have declared their March 6 game against Pensacola, a 7:15 p.m. start in Carver Arena, as a special ticket price night.
Selected lower bowl sections will be $10. Those tickets can be purchased by contacting the team at (309) 676-1040.
