The Penn State Nittany LionsClass of 2027 certainly doesn't need more players to prove that it is elite. Already ranked 7th in the country, it has almost every position you could want, except for a solid running back.
That is why the recruiting process for three-star prospect Chukwuma Odoh will have to be viewed closely for the Nittany Lions. So far, 247Sports' Brian Dohn has predicted Odoh will land with the Nittany Lions, but it is not quite set in stone.
While Odoh would not be the most elite of running back additions, he would still stand alone in a position group that could always use a boost for the program. Playing for Paramus Catholic in New Jersey, Odoh rushed for 629 yards and nine touchdowns on just 91 carries. Still, it did nothing for his national ranking as 247Sports still has him ranked 728th nationally and just 56th among running backs. For Odoh, staying close to home and making a name for himself under Matt Campbell could see his star shine.
Penn State has already done very well in the state of New Jersey this recruiting cycle, with four additions to the program from the state. All of them are three stars as well, which should give hope to Penn State fans that they can be molded into better players. Most importantly, they come from different schools and backgrounds, proving that Penn State's recruiting roots run deep in the state. Should Odoh sign on to the Nittany Lions project, he could be further proof of what Matt Campbell is trying to build.
