Today didn’t start out the best for Penn State after they lost out on four-star quarterback Peter Bourque, who they’d been recruiting for months. The top-10 signal caller from the Class of 2027 chose Virginia Tech instead, which dampened what had been an incredible recruiting cycle for the Nittany Lions.
Fortunately, the bad vibes didn’t last very long, as they received good news on a three-star running back shortly after Bourque’s decision. After securing a commitment from four-star running back Aiden Gibson earlier this week, Penn State further ensured the future of the position. Three-star halfback Chukwuma Odoh agreed to join the team just a couple months after they offered him.
After a relatively short recruitment, the Nittany Lions now have two running backs for the Class of 2027, which may just end up being the best recruiting class in the country. Odoh will join Gibson in the backfield next year in what should be a team full of talent.
Although Penn State is nearing 20 commitments for 2027, they are nowhere near done. They still need to secure their quarterback of the future, but once that is done, there will be few weak spots on the roster.
