After renewing the rivalry with Pitt last season, Penn State basketball announced it will play the Panthers during the 2026-27 season inside the Cathedral of College Basketball.
The Nittany Lions announced the 150th all-time meeting with the in-state rival for Nov. 8 inside The Palestra. Penn State played Pitt for the first time since 2017-18 last season, dropping the December contest 80-46 inside the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa.
Penn State leads the all-time series with Pitt, 76-73. It will also be the 64th time Penn State basketball has competed in The Palestra, holding a 25-39 overall record.
The nonconference schedule is slowly coming together for fourth-year head coach Mike Rhoades, who's leading a veteran-heavy roster after competing with a majority-freshman rotation in 2025-26.
The program is already scheduled to compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis with a couple of high-major opponents around Thanksgiving, now he adds another one in early November.
