The Pittsburgh Penguins have the 22nd overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and could go in a bunch of different directions.

Pittsburgh made the playoffs last season and could look to add a player who can make an impact right away, like Ben Kindel did this past season. Ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft, analyst Corey Pronman of The Athletic revealed his latest mock draft and had the Penguins selecting right-shot defenseman Ryan Lin from Vancouver in the WHL.

“Pittsburgh doesn’t really have a future power-play QB in its prospect pool, and Lin could be one. He’s a highly intelligent defenseman, and despite being undersized and having average skating, he competes hard and wins a surprising amount of battles, giving him a chance to be a quality NHL defenseman,” Pronman wrote.

Lin is a 5-foot-11 defenseman from Richmond, British Columbia, and has played the past two years with the Vancouver Giants in the WHL. This past season, he recorded 14 goals and 43 assists for 57 points in 53 games, showing his offensive touch.

The Penguins have Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang as quarterbacks on the power play, but both are nearing the end of their careers, so Lin could learn from them and take over years from now.

The 2026 NHL Draft is set for June 26-27 in Buffalo.
