The New England Patriots continue to bring in veteran leadership to the defense, signing a cornerback who has a connection to head coach Mike Vrabel and assistant head coach Terrell Williams.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Patriots signed cornerback Kindle Vildor to a one-year deal.

He spent the 2025 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, having played in 12 games and finishing with an interception, three passes defended, and 16 tackles.

However, his NFL career began with the Chicago Bears as a fifth-round selection. During the 2021 season, he started in 12 games, and in 2022, he recorded nine starts. He was ultimately cut by the Bears, which is when he made the move to Tennessee, playing for Vrabel, as well as cornerbacks coach Justin Hamilton and defensive coordinator Zak Kuhr.

His time with the Titans only lasted two games, where he spent some time with the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad before being signed by the Detroit Lions, which is where he spent time with Terrell Williams.

The Patriots have their two starting cornerbacks in Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis, but need more depth after deciding not to tender a contract to restricted free agent Alex Austin.
