The New England Patriots added two players to their practice squad on Wednesday.
The Patriots are set to play in the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 8. New England has dealt with injuries to key starters, including linebackers Harold Landry (knee) and Robert Spillane (ankle). The Patriots have also been working wide receiver Mack Hollins (abdomen) back into their rotation.
Ahead of the big game, the Patriots announced that they signed linebacker Patrick Johnson and wide receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. to the practice squad.
Johnson is a five-year veteran who most recently played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025. The Tulane product recorded one sack in addition to eight total tackles on the season. Johnson brings playoff experience to the Patriots, having played in Super Bowl LVII in 2023.
Sherfield is in his eighth season in the league. The Vanderbilt product played 10 games with three starts in the regular season for the Denver Broncos before appearing in his final two regular season contests for the Arizona Cardinals. Sherfield has 21 receiving yards on the year.
