Mike Vrabel spoke to the media on Tuesday and commented on the New England Patriots potentially trading away their first-round pick.

Vrabel was not originally scheduled to speak to the media, but chose to address rumors surrounding him after pictures of him and a former insider for The Athletic, Dianna Russini, were released. He did take some questions afterwards and outlined the Patriots' draft process.

“It’s just a little different landscape being at 31 than you are at 4,” Vrabel said on Tuesday, per MassLive's Karen Guregian. “It’s something we’re going to have to work through and be able to navigate.

“There’s different mock scenarios and you work through things. Maybe someone wants to come in for 31 ... What would we want to do? Who would we stay and pick?”

Vrabel and executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf have both mentioned the possibility of trading their first-round pick. The 31st pick is very valuable in terms of trade. Teams picking early on Day 2 could be willing to pay a premium price to come up and secure a fifth-year option for a player they like.

If the board falls to the Patriots' liking, they could trade back and still get the player they wanted at No. 31. A team like the Arizona Cardinals could be one to watch in terms of a trade. The Cardinals need a quarterback and could see an opportunity to come get Ty Simpson.
