My girl friend's brother inlaw is a Ranger with the 101st and him along with people like Pat and his brother are now in the Middle East. My prayers go out to these guys and I was wondering if there is anyway the Cardinals could show their support to a ex-Cardinal player who showed his loyalty when he turned down a high priced offer once from the Rams to remain with the Cardinals. Often teams reflect their support for players who have died as the Cardinals did with a black stripe on the sleeve when a Cardinal player once died of a heart attack. Why does death have to be the only time a team can show its support to a player? Tillman is not dead but his actions make me proud he was a Cardinal. A flag with number 40 on it on the sleeve to me would a be a proper gesture to Pat Tillman not only to say thank you to Pat for the blood and sweat effort he gave the Cards but more importantly the effort he is giving to his country at this time.

I agree something should be done. Hopefully he will be back before the season starts.

I don't know what the team can do to honor him - I know the league has so many rules and regulations that must be followed - but I think it would be entirely appropriate for some sort of recognition by the team (on the uniforms, on the playing surface at SDS, in the stadium, in the programs/media guides).

Maybe this is something Jim O. can look into????

It is an interesting topic. Certainly it has been explored before. I don't know of any specifics that have been talked about but it has been widely publicized that Pat does not want to make a spectacle of the situation.

No one has worn number 40 yet, so maybe that is an unofficial tribute. That is my personal thought.

I like that. Maybe that's a subtle way of keeping him on the team until he returns.

Do we still have his 'rights'? Didn't he have one year left? Of course he'd probably be free to do whatever he wanted. Just curious...

He was a free agent, so he can sign with any team. I like the idea. If anyone deserves it, Pat does. Where's Jimmy-O when you need him?

I was really upset with comments Simeon Rice made about him with Jim Rome a couple of months ago. Pat Tillman is more of a man than Rice ever will be. Both the Sun Devils and Cards should be proud to have had him wear the number 40. I would like to see ASU retire his number. He was a heck of a player for them.

Brian or 11, Did you go to Luke Days this weekend? The F-15 demo was incredible! I've seen it about 10 times now and it still brings a tear to the eye. The whole time I kept thinking Oh Yeah, Keep lippin off France! The might that this country wields is unbelievable. Just walking onto the base with all of the armed gaurds and equipment on display made me proud. It was a very good day and the patriotism was at a feverish pitch. Can't beat a Saturday like that.

My Dad flew Eagles for 3 years, stationed in Okinawa. He would sit alert in S. Korea as well. He intercepted a defecting N. Korean fighter as well as a Russian Bear (awesome pictures!).

I know the Super Hornets are the superior air fighter these days, but I will always have a special place in my heart for the F-15.

God Speed to Pat Tillman and his unit.

Pat actually wore #42 at ASU. He switched to #40 because Kwamie Lassiter wore #42 for the Cards.
