The Carolina Panthers officially parted ways with a couple of players before tonight's Hall of Fame Game against the Arizona Cardinals.
As announced on Thursday afternoon, the team has released offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles and waived wide receiver Ainias Smith. Both were let go with an injury settlement.
Charles, 27, entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick of the then-Washington Football Team in 2020. He first joined the Panthers as a member of their practice squad in October of 2025 and appeared in two games, then returned on a reserve/future contract this past January.
Smith, 25, was a fifth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024. He also came to Carolina through their practice squad, signing on in August of 2025.
Carolina initially placed Charles on injured reserve yesterday with a calf injury. Smith, meanwhile, was waived with an injury designation on Tuesday—when the team added wide receivers Roc Taylor and Elijah Cooks.
