We're now in July, which means absolutely nothing will be going on in the NFL for the next three weeks until training camp begins. This deadest part of the calendar stretches the creative muscles of content creators every year, forcing them to come up with new ideas and scenarios to fill the void.
One of our favorites is NFL.com's annual seven-round win-now re-draft for the entire league, putting every single player up for grabs for all 32 teams.
As always, this year's version is an interesting exercise—giving us a unique perspective on where Carolina Panthers players would be taken in a league-wide draft. It also offers an interesting take on a hypothetical roster core—in this case, a radical improvement for the Panthers over their current group.
Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver and reigning Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the first pick Carolina made in the draft at No. 19 overall, fresh off a ridiculous breakout that saw him total nearly 1,800 yards in a Super Bowl-winning campaign. Green Bay Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons was somehow still available in Round 2 at No. 46 overall.
Next, the Panthers went young at quarterback, taking this year's No. 1 overall selection, Indiana's Fernando Mendoza, in Round 3 at No. 83 overall. Reuter wrote the following on the match:
Mendoza may be worth questioning, and that's only because he hasn't played a single game yet at this level. For every Peyton Manning there's a Ryan Leaf—and the Las Vegas Raiders (in the real world) better hope it's the former and not the latter.
Then, Carolina added Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts at No. 110, followed by New England Patriots offensive tackle Mike Onwenu (No. 147), Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Travis Jones (No. 174) and Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair with their last pick at No. 211.
Here's the entire haul at a glance:

Head coach Dave Canales should welcome the opportunity to work with a mature rookie whose intelligence, accuracy and mobility could make him a pretty good starter in Year 1.
