2026 represents a crossroads for the Carolina Panthers and quarterback Bryce Young. The front office has done a good job of building up the supporting cast around him the last two offseasons, and now it's time for Young to step up and start delivering the kind of results you'd expect from a No. 1 overall pick.

If he doesn't break through this coming season, the Panthers will still control him in 2027—thanks to his fifth-year option. However, if they don't feel like giving him a long-term contract after this upcoming campaign, then it would be a mistake not to explore potential replacement options.

In a new 2027 NFL mock draft from Brent Sobleski at Bleacher Report, the Panthers do just that—taking University of South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers at No. 11 overall. Sobleski writes:

The 6'3", 240-pound Sellers is a tremendous athlete with raw arm talent to spare. A year ago, the 20-year-old garnered No. 1 overall projections based on his immense upside. He didn't show enough growth to stay in that conversation. However, another year at South Carolina coupled with positive development as a passer will once again place Sellers among the top quarterback options.

Sellers ripped off a stellar 2024 season for the Gamecocks, posting a 65.6-percent completion rate, 2,534 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Last year, his numbers dipped a bit, dropping down to 60.8 percent, 2,3437 yards, 13 scores and eight picks. His rushing production also dropped off—going from 674 yards and seven touchdowns, down to 270 yards and five touchdowns.

Still, Sellers has shown more than enough high-level flashes to be worth a first-round pick for a franchise that's looking to find their next QB1. And if it's this franchise, then Sellers could remind many Panthers fans of another big-armed, big-statured dual-threat quarterback who took their team to new heights a decade ago.
