The Carolina Panthers will look to get their feet wet next weekend.
Head coach Dave Canales spoke with reporters following Sunday morning's session of training camp. He was asked if he plans on playing his starters for Saturday's preseason tilt against the Buffalo Bills.
"Yes, yes," Canales replied. "We will play this week, for sure. We'll take it week by week. We'll get them out there—probably play something similar to what Kenny [Pickett] and that group played in the Hall of Fame Game. So it'll be somewhere between 10 and 20 plays depending on how those drives pan out, so we can just get some good work in."
Carolina will travel to Orchard Park for their Week 1 preseason outing. Their matchup with the Bills will mark the first game at the new Highmark Stadium, which has replaced Buffalo's Ralph Wilson Stadium.
Among the starters will be quarterback Bryce Young, who did not see the field in Thursday's 33-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
"I'm excited to just be able to get out there with the guys," Young said during his post-practice presser this afternoon. "Anytime you get to play football, live in a stadium, it's a privilege. Especially being able to go out there last week, you're around it. Obviously, I wasn't playing—but you get that itch again."
The starting duties in the Hall of Fame Game went to Pickett, who completed eight of his 11 passing attempts for 62 yards. Rookie Haynes King went on to take the rest of the looks under center before injuring his hamstring on the game-winning rushing touchdown as time expired.
