Paige Bueckers reveals who she thinks is the ‘most underrated player’ in the WNBA

Paige Bueckers knows a thing or two about talent, but when asked who deserves way more credit across the league, her answer was clear.

It’s safe to say that Paige Bueckers is putting up elite all-around numbers in her second WNBA season for the Dallas Wings, averaging over 20 points and nearly six assists a night.

This follows on from Bueckers’ 2025 Rookie of the Year campaign, which was rather special. She poured in 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, highlighted by a 44-point against Los Angeles.

Now, being the classy operator she is, Bueckner is diverting some positive attention away from herself.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated in a video on their X account, Paige Bueckers had no hesitation in naming Golden State Valkyries guard Kaitlyn Chen as the most underrated player in the WNBA right now.


Kaitlyn Chen has quietly emerged as a vital spark off the bench for the Golden State Valkyries. Shooting over 50% from the field and averaging around seven points per game, she’s provided dependable scoring depth, highlighted by a career-high 20-point breakout performance against the Washington Mystics.

It makes sense when you look at Chen and Bueckers’ recent meetings.

When they faced off on June 17, Chen outshined her former college teammate in Golden State’s 91–80 victory over the Dallas Wings. Coming off the bench, Chen delivered a hyper-efficient 15 points on 7-of-10 (70%) shooting, finishing with a team-high +26 plus-minus in 25 minutes.

Meanwhile, Paige Bueckers struggled to find her rhythm, going 5-for-13 for 15 points in the loss.

Back at UConn, Bueckers and Chen were fun to watch together. Clicking instantly in the backcourt, they spearheaded the Huskies through an undefeated 18–0 conference run.
