The Green Bay Packers and wide receiver Romeo Doubs were unable to find compromise on a new deal, and Doubs is expected to have "several suitors" when he hits the open market in the coming days, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Fowler lists the New England Patriots, Washington Commanders, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers as the top interested teams.
"Doubs is considered by some evaluators to be the best all-around receiver in the group," Fowler reported.
With a robust market expected, Doubs likely priced himself out of the Packers' range. As a top free agent pass-catcher, he could make $15 million or more per season on his next deal.
The Packers have an in-house replacement plan in place with 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden, who should be an ideal fit as the starting perimeter receiver for Matt LaFleur in 2026.
Doubs, a 2023 fourth-round pick, has 21 career touchdown catches and three straight seasons with at least 600 receiving yards. He led the Packers in targets (85), receptions (55), receiving yards (724) and touchdown catches (6) during the regular season in 2025, and Doubs was excellent in the postseason, catching eight of 11 targets for 124 yards and a touchdown in the loss at Chicago.
The legal tampering period for free agents opens on Monday. Players can start officially signing deals at the start of the new league year on Wednesday afternoon.
