Wednesday brought more updates for injured quarterbacks Jordan Love, Malik Willis and Lamar Jackson ahead of Saturday's showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens.
Love, who is in concussion protocol, was back on the practice field and participating for the second consecutive day, per Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official site. It remains unclear if Love will clear the protocol in time to play Saturday, and coach Matt LaFleur admitted clearance can be a bit of a "moving target" and he's not sure if he'll know who is starting at quarterback for either team by Thursday. The return-to-participation protocol is five stages, but Love is at least through the first three stages.
Willis, who has a right shoulder injury but practiced during Tuesday's walk-through, is not participating on Wednesday due to a new illness -- potentially putting his status for Saturday into question. Willis said Tuesday he felt he would be physically ready to play through the shoulder injury. An illness appears to be going through the Packers locker room; Bo Melton and Quinton Bohanna both missed practice on Tuesday with illnesses.
Jackson missed practice for the second consecutive day due to what John Harbaugh called a "significant" contusion on his back, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN. If Jackson can't go, and it appears to be trending that way, backup Tyler Huntley -- who started against the Packers in 2021 -- would start on Saturday.
Love was injured on a helmet-to-helmet hit in the second quarterback on Saturday night against the Chicago Bears. Willis suffered a shoulder injury while being sacked on the final play of regulation against the Bears. Jackson was injured when he was kneed in the back in the second quarter on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
Both teams will issue a final injury report with game status designations on Thursday.
The Packers can clinch a playoff spot with a win, while the Ravens need a win to stay alive in the AFC North race.
