I remember Vinnie Testaverde did something like this, but I don’t think he was off and out of the league for five years? And I’m pretty sure he clowned/owned us when he did it.

Didn’t narrow down the field much even though you are discussing Vinnie. The list of QBs who have clowned/owned the Cardinals is massive

Not after being retired and coming back at well over 40

Is Philip the first grandfather to play in the League?
Looks like a lot of people are asking that - I googled "Has a grandfather and it filled in the rest.

Yes, grandfathers have played in the NFL, with Brett Favre being the first known active player to become a grandfather and play in 2010, and recently, Philip Rivers came out of retirement at age 44, becoming a grandfather and potentially the second to play in the league, highlighting that it's rare but possible. Rivers signed to the Colts' practice squad in late 2025 to address injuries, creating buzz as he juggled family life and a return to the field.

I think the closest in age to do what Rivers is doing was Steve DeBerg. He was out of the league for roughly 1,780-something days before a brief comeback.

You got to love the guys humor/candidness. For me personally, he is the only reason I will be watching the NFL this week. Cards are so bad, I'll be flying home from Houston during the Cards game because I don't give a rat's arse. And, I've been a season ticket holder for going on 30 years.

Only? There is a lot more going on in the NFL this week than this...
