I just took my ten year old daughter to see "Miracle." It's pretty good and I would highly recommend it. I don't think it's quite as good as "The Rookie" or "Remember the Titans" but those were outstanding in my opinion. The end of "Miracle" will give you goosebumps just like it did when it happened. As far as I can tell, the movie did a pretty good job of being accurate. I was a little skeptical about Kurt Russell as Herb Brooks, but he did a great job. Watch the still shot of Brooks at the end of the movie and you'll see what I mean. It brought back a lot of memories for me. I remeber that game. I was in like the 8th grade. The game with the Russians was played during the day and I don't think ABC showed it live so I heard the final score on the news and they showed it later that night. But it still was amazing to watch. The film also brought back a lot of other memories for me with it's music (Thunder Island by Jay Ferguson, Don't Fear the Reaper by BOC) and political references (Iranian Hostage Crisis, energy crisis). I guess I'm sentimental for stuff like that. I love ESPN Classic and VH1's We are the 80's, etc. Anyway, I love good sports movies and I love the Cardinals. Maybe someday 25 years from now they'll make a movie about the "Miracle Cardinals" that Dennis Green took over and led to an unprecedented seven straight Super Bowl wins, hey I can dream can't I?
Anyway, go see Miracle. It will make you proud to be an American! God Bless Pat Tillman and the rest of our brave fighting men and women!

I saw it yesterday - I really enjoyed it.

I definitely had goosebumps at the end.

I thought it was interesting that most of the hockey players in the movie actually played hockey in real life and are aspiring actors, too. What a perfect role, eh?

Saw it on saturday, great movie.

I was 22 when the Miracle on Ice happened. I had just visited Phoenix for the first time. We were on our way back to Minnesota and stopped in Las Vegas for the night. We saw the win over Russia on TV, on the floor of the Stardust casino. The place was packed, and everyone stood still watching on TV moniters for the entire 3rd period. The place erupted when an unknown Al Michaels asked, "do you believe in miracles? YES!

I knew Dave Christian, and Neal Broten from the olympic team. They were from small towns that played in the same conference as my home town. I played basketball, but did compete against them in football and golf.

The movie did a good job of trying to capture the mood of the nation at the time, but if you were old enough to remember those days, you'll have a hard time keeping your eyes dry during this movie.

The mighty mighty Russians were our main threat at the time, and their hockey program was so dominant, it was thought to be impossible for them to lose. Impossible, until a bunch of Minnesota farm boys, and Boston city slickers, came together under the direction of Herb Brooks, and became the TEAM that beat the Russians and shocked the world.

Herb Brooks died in a car accident last summer, after a golf tournament in Minni. He was the last cut from the 1960 olympic hockey team, the last team to win olympic gold before 1980. That 1960 team, actually had the fathers of some of the players on the 1980 team, in addition to Brooks.

I saw it in a sneak preview a few weeks back. Really enjoyed it. To me it was the single greatest upset in sports history. The onyl other one that can even be mentioned, IMO, is the Buster Douglas upset of Tyson in his prime. But that, to me, still doesnt compare!

Great movie! two thumbs up
