a point sometimes lost in trade comp on Kyler: a trade frees up material cap space in 2026 vs cutting him (how much depends on how much of Kylers $36mm guarantee Mike B eats to make a trade happen)

as a hypothetical: would you trade a 4th round pick to get (lets say) $25mm in 2026 cap space?

Depends - will Bidwill spend the space?

as of today, he is contractually obligated to give Kyler Murray $36mm next year, even if they cut him.

so if some other team said we will give you a 5th round pick for Kyler, but you have to pay $30mm of his guarantee --

Mike SHOULD look at that like someone is giving him a draft pick and $6mm

there's a hippie like me in every fanbase in the nfl - i guess - i'm the guy who can get it for you - bootleg jerseys - a bag of reefer if you're partial - a bottle of brandy to celebrate a rare divisional victory - damn near anything - within reason.

i must admit i didn't think much of kyler first time i laid eyes on him - he might'a been important in college but in here he was just a little turd wearing ipods - looked like a stiff breeze could blow him over...that was my first impression of the man

yet i could see why some of the boys took him for cocky - he had a quiet way about him - a walk and a talk that just wasn't normal around here - he strolled like a man without a care or a worry in the world - like a man who was already in the hof - like he had on an invisible coat that would shield him from this place called arizona - yeah - i think it would be fair to say... i liked kyler from the start

but i guess after conner was injured kyler decided he'd been here just about long enough - so kyler did like he was told - and buffed those dress shoes to a high mirror shine - monti simply didn't notice - neither did i... i mean seriously - how often do you really look at a qbs shoes?

in 2026 kyler murray escaped from statefarm stadium in arizona - all they found of him was a beanie - a discarded cards unifirm - a bar of soap - and an old controller used to play call of duty - damn near worn down to the nub

kyler crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of ish smelling foulness i can't even imagine - or maybe I just don't want to - five hundred yards... that's the length from statefarm field to the freeway - just shy of half a mile.

You must be registered for see images attach

kyler being gone - i have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be in a pocket - their feet are just too happy
Brilliant

I know most of you have seen this, but this is a large part of what is missing from Kyler's game.

Kyler works hard in practice, does his meetings, works out in the gym and then clocks off. Starting QB's in the league are spending hours going over game plans, watching film, and working with WR's on concepts and routes for the upcoming game.

Do you think Mike gets this catch, or a bunch of his catches, his Kyler is at QB? Jacoby is telling Mike when we run this play to run it like this and you will get open against this QB. And when you do I will get you the ball.

That just doesn't happen with Kyler, and it's why the offense never functions well. Kyler is a 9 to 5 QB.

I guess that’s one advantage of being a journeyman quarterback this played underneath a ton of offensive coordinators. Kyler has had two, and one is a complete failure as an offensive coordinator

I see this more of it as an indictment of the wide receivers and an offensive coordinating coaches.

Slow down there, friend
He 100% will be. To deny that is the same logic that Drake Maye will be traded.

There are too many teams that need a starter and Darnold, Baker, and Jones are nowhere near as talented as K1.

The Cards just won’t get anything in return for him sadly and typical of them.

People pining for JJ McArthy is exactly why i doubt this fan bases ability to spot QB talent.

Do you people watch other teams play?
Don’t count me in that McCarthy basket…
And, as I’ve always said, Kyler is incredibly talented - physically.
That talent does zero for him when it comes to the level of toughness and grit required of a winning NFL QB. Nor does that talent do anything for him in terms of pre and post snap reads. Or ensuring balls are where they’re supposed to be WHEN they’re supposed to be there. And is most definitely does nothing in terms of making him a qualified leader.

Dude, he's been in the league 7 years. He's played with Nuk, AJ Green, etc who were long time vets.

These excuses are sad. Always someone else's fault that Kyler doesn't know how to do his job. If only he had the option of taking some offseason coaching from elsewhere...

to explain my logic:

McCarthy from the Cards perspective is a low risk, high upside addition to a trade that is really about minimizing Kylers cap hit.

IF McCarthy's mechanical issues can be fixed while Brisset plays QB, you have a young QBoF --

IF not, you can cut him and move on with life.

this also assumes a whole new coaching staff

If McCarthy can’t be fixed with one of the brightest offensive minds & a really good supporting cast, I don’t know why one would think his issues could be fixed here, tbh.

Yeah I don’t think McCarthys problems are mechanical. He’s had some of the highest level coaching available for years. It’s possible he’s just not that good — at least not good enough to meet the rest of the team where it is right now.

There’s probably a reason Michigan never really wanted to put the ball in his hands. Best thing for him would be to go to a team with an established QB and have a dedicated coach to work with him for an entire year. That’s what KC did with Mahomes.

Maybe that would make McCarthy functional at the NFL level. Otherwise his future probably looks a lot like Justin Fields’s.

He has the worst EPA per attempt of any QB since 2000. There's no upside with JJ.

Yeah, Baker is like twice as good as Kyler. Are you freaking kidding? He had like 4500 yards and 40 TDs last year.

Yup. Go ahead and criticize Kyler all you want, but to claim JJ would be better than Kyler is insanity.

There’s multiple teams who are trotting out someone this Sunday that’s worse than Kyler.

There will be a demand for him

How much will depend on whether he’s released or the Cardinals are firm on trying to dump as much salary as possible

You mean the AJ Greene that failed to turn around and clinch a sure win?

In the season, where people were talking about Kyler being an MVP candidate?

You and the rest of the KDS continued to push this narrative that Kyler has never accomplished anything and has been a low average quarterback for seven years, which is demonstratively false.
