It's better than watching tennis highlights! How people still pay top dollar to sit in the heat and watch tennis still baffles me.

Yeah, I had been watching the Pirates beat the Giants (Let's Go Bucs!), then put on the DVR. When I finished, it was Sportscenter doing WWE...which made me go WTF. I haven't watched ESPN for anything other than actual games for years. This reinforces my staying away.

What does ESPN stand for? Entertainment and Sports Programming Network

What does WWE stand for? World Wrestling Entertainment

Just sayin'! I am surprised they did not do this sooner.

They sometimes cover WWE events. When Lawrence Taylor made his run to Wrestlemania, they covered the cross-over. If the sports world intersects with wresting at all, they usually cover it. And OTL had done several health-related stories on former wrestlers.

That being said, if they start covering matches like they are real, I will just SMH and move on.

ESPN, much like Nashville TN with music,...is doing anything they can think of to try and stay relevant.

I'd rather watch tennis than fake wrestling

People who say wrestling is fake in like people saying movies are fake.

Coming out of Godzilla like "That was totally fabricated! At no point during that film did I get any updates about an attack on New York. It would've been all over the news!"

Its a play. Entertainment. Yeah, it is suppose to be real to certain people. 10 year olds. Just like Santa and the Easter Bunny. Can you not let them be kids and enjoy themselves?

I've encountered plenty of adults that think WWE is for real. Then there are also the adults that understand that it is totally staged, but still enjoy it for entertainment.

Personally, I wouldn't walk out the door to see WWE staging an event in my yard! But to each his own.

And I agree with Southpaw, if not for NCAA football it would be ESPhuh?

I have never understood the appeal of pro wrestling, but a ton of people love it, so let them love it!

I dont get a lot of things that other people love: NASCAR, Indian food, exercise...

Different strokes :)

Do people come out of movies saying they are real?

Kids dont watch espn. Plays do not belong on sporting networks. That is all.

When you have a former UFC heavyweight champion headlining it it makes covering it a little easier and they only cover the top 2 Events this past one and wrestlemania. It's not like they recap raw every week lol

I get all that. But I thought ESPN was about sports. Like, actual sports, where they keep score and stuff.

Take out movies put in cartoons and you're spot on.

ESPN will soon be to sports what MTV is to music.

Remember when ESPN produced those God-awful Bobby Knight and Pete Rose movies? Or when they covered Poker? Or when they covered strong man contests? Or when they legitimized Stephen A Smith as a journalist?

Take all those things, put them in a blender, and you get WWE.

Strong man competition is sport though :)

ESPN shows the spelling bee contest. I'd love to hear the argument about that being a sport.

Nope

Sport. Noun: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

ESPN's coverage of the spelling bee should put that notion to bed.

They cover just about everything. I'm glad they do.
