I've never been to New Orleans, this will be my first time. 5 day trip, going with a bunch of college friends and this will be the first trip we have been on in nearly a decade where no one brought a squealing child! I am excited.

We've sketched out a bit of an itinerary but have left a lot of room for exploration. Have any of you been there? Any must hit spots?

DON’T GO TO BOURBON STREET.

Go to Frenchmen Street. Awesome jazz bands and bars there with killer live music.

Food? Jacques Imo’s for Fried Chicken, COCHON BUTCHER FOR LUNCH!!!! Best, rich and varied lunch dishes that will send you into a midday food fog and SUPER STIFF drinks.

Sylvain - another tiny place hidden in the quarter with dinners to die for.

Tartine... out of this world food... and prices.

Atchafaya - great dinner spot.

We've already got Jacques Imo's on the list, I will be sure to add Cochon Butcher. We are hitting a river boat casino and that menu and the idea of stiff drinks looks perfect for the next day.
