Weird that we have no interest in Walker. He's a serviceable RT. Would give you more options in the draft.

No. $10.5 million rookie pool
I don't really pay too much attention to the cap space calculations but per Over the Cap, the Cardinals Rookie Pool is $17.7M and the Rookie Cap Space is for $11.5. I imagine that we need to set aside the $11.5 based on the current draft picks. If we trade, that may chance things.

Hope you cap experts can elaborate.

I would have been fine with signing Malik Willis because he's actually young and has a long career left ahead of him. Not super upset that he went to Miami instead, though I would have been excited to have him as a Cardinal. But I absolutely don't understand the idea of signing 37-year old Kirk Cousins to do what...just come in and fill a spot for a year while the Cardinals still finish last in the NFC West and then draft their QB in 2027. If they're going to be a last place team in 2026 then at least use that as an opportunity to draft or sign someone who might have a chance (even if a small one) to be the long-term answer at that position. I'd rather go 3-14 with a Day 2/3 pick like Garrett Nussmeier or Drew Allar back there seeing what they can do, than 5-12 with Cousins and Minshew.
right??
The worst thing we could get is an ancient QB that actually wins games...9-7 would suck..but a first round playoff may even be worse.
the 40 year old QB will be one and done and we will be stuck QB shopping with the 23rd slot in the draft order.
we all know we are doomed..if we cant get a 24 year old with potential to drum up some hope for...then stick with what we got...take our damn medicine...and after surviving a character building season,...select a guy in the top 3 next april.

it suxx. we all knew it was gonna suck. but we all also knew, kyler had to go, and this situation had to happen.
so FFS, just embrace the suck and push through. dont we have any Marines in here?

Yes, but only the top 51 salaries count against the cap. So all but the top 3 picks are basically a wash, and those three picks offset a $1.2MM minimum salary.

You can always check the effective cap space measure on overthecap.com

The Colts structured Daniel Jones’ contract where they can easily get out of it after next season, if necessary.

If Indianapolis moved on from Jones with a post-June 1 designation, they would save $38 million while only incurring an $8.8 million dead cap charge in 2027.

GM Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen both enter next season on the hot seat, too.
