Wow. I hadn't heard any speculation about TWO teams moving. That's interesting.
It goes by the wayside because there has been so much emphasis on the AEG downtown project and the immanence that the deal will go through that the Grand Crossing deal (City of Industry) has been somewhat of an afterthought.
The only problem is although the Grand Crossing deal comes with 600 acres of land at no cost, the team moving to L.A. would have to front the bill for the construction of the stadium. Of course, this is before negotiating has even started, so this could very well change.
Meanwhile, the AEG project will (by all accounts) pay for the $1.1billion stadium. In addition, it already has naming rights to the stadium (Farmers Field), and is in a more desirable location; thus, making the AEG deal much more attractive. So IMO, the more desirable team will play in downtown and the other will play in the City of Industry.
There is also talk that a team could relocate as early as 2013 and play a few seasons at either the Coliseum or the Rose Bowl, while one of the new stadiums is being built.
Rumors are swirling about which teams will be candidates for relocation. AEG claims it has already begun discussions with a few teams about the prospect of coming to L.A.
In my opinion, this is the list of teams, in order, that have the best chance of playing in L.A.:
- Chargers (I'm almost certain about this)
- Vikings
- Raiders
- Jaguars
- Rams
- Bills
