Seriously?

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...terson-indicted-in-child-injury-case-in-texas

Peterson allegedly told the child's mother via text message that he “felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh.” Peterson also acknowledged the injury to the child's scrotum, saying in the text message, “Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, I'm all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!

He'll remember this as he's beating the hell out of his own kids.

Child abuse, domestic violence, murder - what's left for the NFL? So sad - lots of folks needing help in the NFL and in society.

Nowadays only cops are allowed to beat people like that.
Oh, yeah, and the rapists, muderers, muggers, gang bangers, and other monsters they stand in front of to defend us from.

Sigh. I just don't know what to say. Maybe if anything good comes out of this, the NFL looks at it's entire policy for NFL player conduct and just adopts a ZERO tolerance policy. If you are under investigation....you simply are temporary suspended until the investigation is completed. You break the law...gone for the year. You break it again....lifetime ban.

I just have a hard time sympathizing with players who are playing a game making a ton of money. It's a privilege. If you get a second chance by getting out of jail or even staying out of jail great. I don't think that means you deserve a second chance to play in these leagues.

If this is true and he beat this kid like the pictures show? I don't ever want to see him in an NFL uniform again. I will never watch a game on TV he is on. PERIOD.

Whew! Looks like we made the right choice in not taking Peterson in the 2007 draft. :D

Physical discipline is a viable and necessary form of punishment that should be an option for parents.... It's downright silly that many jurisdictions have passed laws that allow for no physical discipline of their kids.... I'm fact it's shameful.

It shouldn't be used in every instance and you hope your kids if raised right will never require it to be used. But at times it is and should be without any hesitation. Of course without going overboard!

Nicely said. I had my nephew for 6 years (age 8-14), two whoopins during that span. One was a theft thing (stupid I-pods! :D), then he thought he was a gang member one week. Whoopins and talks did the trick combined, most everything else was pretty chillville.

My beat downs as a kid were better hidden.

When I got beat, you could best believe I deserved it, my folks let me know why too, it wasn't fun for them at all but I brought the beating out of them. :p I was old enough to understand why I was getting tagged though, and I was old enough to learn from it too.

I think I'm going to start a "my best whooping" thread in the everything else section, because this is taking me back! :p

AP would be history if it happened in a parking lot with some on viewers holding cell phones. This is why you have to beat your kids/wives in the privacy of your own home, if you want to stay in the NFL that is. Drunk driving will take a back seat, PODs, and even weed too, at least until another athlete does something crazy.

That is not discipline that is a BEATING and no child should get a BEATING like that....EVER! If those pictures are real and if that child was bleeding then AP was way over the top. Should be given an indefinite suspension...like forever IMO.

I got a few whippings with a belt growing up, maybe left my ********** red for a few minutes. Never bruised let alone bleeding. Plus, I was old enough to know why and I learned from the few I got pretty good.

But bleeding? My God that is just savage.

Disgusting. Nothing funny or lighthearted about this situation to me.

I looked at the pics. Yeah, that's waaaaaaay overboard. I got beat as a kid, and an aunt whipped my ass with a garden hose (metal end hit a few times). I'm not opposed to spanking, but rarely have used it and never with a belt (I had lots of belts hit me). Rule #1 if you spank should always be never spank if you are angry. If it is to be used it is for a punishment or lesson, not anger or stress release.

So, seeing those pics I am pretty much pained. A 4 year old just can't fathom why that's taking place. What could you do to catch such a beating at that age? How does the first one that whipped out blood not stop AP so that he left another 10 or so? Inner thighs? WTF man. And those pics are from days later? He's pretty effed right now, any more photos surface and he's toast. And rightfully so.

Also had injuries to his scrotum. AP even states that 'oh, I got him in the nuts, oops'

That was hard to read. Ugh. That he even had the balls (no pun intended) to text that is shocking.

Man... there are situations where a little swat can go a long way to get a kids attention, but a flat out beating is never ever called for, and a FOUR YEAR OLD!?!?! What the hell could a 4 year old have done to warrant getting literally whipped?!

IMO this should fall under the league's domestic abuse policy, 6 games minimum for AP. Lets watch how Roger bungles this.

I'm just glad folks are considering the age of the child, and the emotional state one should be in to consider a whooping as a parent.

Beating a 4 year old is no bueno. You gotta go A.P.

Disgusting in my opinion and just as disgusting listening to anyone try to justify this being done to a four year old. It has always amazed me that people believe an adult who should know better can't be physically abused for doing something wrong but we say it is ok for a child. Physical abuse is just that and it is not ok.

Hope they throw the book at this loser.

I agree there's nothing funny or lighthearted about it. I do think, however, bruising is worse than bleeding. Bleeding is a superficial wound. Bruising is deep and hard and lasts for awhile. I've had both as a child, but that's how they did back then.

I knew full well why I was being punished though, I mean there was no doubt in my mind. Maybe it's different now, I don't know, but back then it was explained to me in detail. That's parenting, spanking/beating or not. Sometimes I did things knowing a whippin' was coming and judged that the misdeed was worth the consequences, quite frankly. And quite honestly that's part of being an adult in today's world--judging whether what you want to do is worth the consequences.

I just think at four years old you can't even understand. You can't even protest in adequate language or form a defense, however weak it may be. At that age you don't even understand the basic underpinnings of society or what's expected in your own household.

When I dealt with discipline, often much worse than this, I knew the when's and where's and why's, I was told and able to verbally defend myself (rudimentary and inadequate though they were) before the beatdown.

Yes, perhaps it was more barbaric back in the day, but I also know a lot more parenting went on, and lessons taught and learned, as opposed to merely beating the **** out of someone.
