Baltimore Orioles pitcher Kyle Bradish
Several teams took advantage of the downtime during last week's All-Star Break to hammer out contract extensions with star players, including the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles.
While the Reds locked up young ace Chase Burns to a big deal, the Orioles did the same with Kyle Bradish, signing him to a five-year, $90 million extension.
Baltimore announced the deal on Saturday. It covers the 2027-2031 seasons and makes Bradish the highest-paid pitcher in franchise history, breaking the record briefly held by teammate Shane Baz.
It's a surprising distinction for the 29-year-old right-hander, who currently leads the Major Leagues in losses and has never received an All-Star selection or Cy Young vote.

Despite missing much of the 2024 and 2025 campaigns due to Tommy John surgery, Bradish posted a 2.78 ERA from 2023-25 and has stayed healthy this year. In 66 career starts over five MLB seasons, he's 25-24 with a 3.50 ERA, a 3.62 FIP and a 1.21 WHIP.
With Bradish, Baz and catcher Samuel Basallo all locked up for at least the next half-decade, the Orioles are building a solid core as they try to remain competitive in the AL East.
