Oregon put a lid on its nonconference season – and secured a sweep against its former rival – with victory against Oregon State April 22.

Now it’s time for the Ducks to buckle down.

Elise Sokolsky pitched a complete game and Elon Butler hit her team-leading 15th home run of the season as Oregon beat Oregon State 7-2 Wednesday at Jane Sanders Stadium.

The win was the 12th straight for the Ducks (36-9, 16-2 Big Ten), who will resume conference play this weekend against visiting Ohio State (23-22, 10-8) in the penultimate series of the regular season.

Oregon is tied with No. 6 UCLA for second place in the conference standings with six games to play before the Big Ten Tournament in Maryland. Conference-leading No. 4 Nebraska (37-6, 17-1) is one game ahead of the Ducks and Bruins.

Oregon, which won the Big Ten title in 2025, is once again contending for the crown but it will need some help.

After the series against seventh-place Ohio State, the Ducks will close out the regular season May 1-3 in Los Angeles against UCLA (41-5, 16-2), which plays at fourth-place Washington (34-12, 15-3) this weekend. Oregon swept the Huskies last weekend.

The Cornhuskers, whose only conference loss came against the Bruins on March 28, have the easiest path to the title. Not only do they have the one-game lead, they’ll end the season with games at home against Iowa (24-22, 6-12) this weekend and then at Penn State (29-17, 8-10) next week.

Led by Sokolsky’s gem, the Ducks were sharp Wednesday night against the Beavers (17-30). The senior pitcher made her first start since suffering an undisclosed injury against Indiana on March 23 and allowed six hits and no earned runs with seven strikeouts and no walk as she improved to 6-2. Both of Oregon State’s runs came in the sixth inning on Sokolsky’s throwing error with two outs.

Butler went 2 for 4 with a double and a solo homer in the sixth. She also scored twice, as did Amari Harper, who was 2 for 3 with a triple. Emma Cox drove in two with a double in the first as part of a three-run inning for the Ducks.

The win improved Oregon to 3-0 against Oregon State this season. The Ducks previously won 11-3 in Corvallis on March 4 and 8-3 in Eugene on March 6.
