Just a bad hire from within after Chip Kelly skipped off to the NFL. Hardly ever seems to work out when the players and AD want to retain continuity.
Bad hire? He was 37-16 and coached ORE to the NC game in 2014. To give a little perspective, Graham is 39-26 and he's coached 1 more year at ASU than Helfrich at ORE, guy just couldn't find a QB. ORE had a pretty good class coming in 2017 but 2 kids have already de-committed.

He won with Kelly's recruits. His recruits aren't even close to that caliber. Larry Coker coached Miami to a MNC in his 1st year when Butch Davis left for the NFL. 3 years later same scenario. That hire from within to sustain hardly ever seems to work. Seems as if Phil Knight & Team Nike goofed.
