The Oregon Ducks baseball team stays home at PK Park this weekend for a three-game set with Indiana for the first home conference series of the season.
After taking on Xavier and sweeping that brief midweek series with the Musketeers, the Ducks have seemingly found their stride once again after losing a tough game last week to Oregon State. Oregon is the winner of four of its last five games, thanks to a series win at Purdue before taking Xavier down.
The Ducks enter this series with the Hoosiers with a robust 14-3 overall record and 2-1 in league action. Indiana isn't riding as high as Oregon, however. It is just 7-9 overall for the season, and lost two out of three at home to Washington last weekend.
Per the usual, head coach Mark Wasikowski will send out ace pitcher Will Sanford (3-0, 0.92 earned run average) to the mound to begin the series, and he will face Indiana's Reagan Rivera (0-2, 13.50 ERA).
In Rivera's last start, just this past Sunday, the senior transfer from Coppin State went four innings against the Huskies, giving up four runs on seven hits in the 13-4 defeat.
Hopefully, this series can be played in its entirety as the weather doesn't look great in Eugene over the weekend. It's supposed to be rainy and cool on Friday and Saturday. Sunday looks good; however, the temperature will barely hit 50 degrees for the series finale.
