The Oregon Ducks are working to add some much-needed depth through the transfer portal, and Mark Wasikowski has landed a former SEC player at a premium position.

Coastal Carolina catcher Cole Chamberlain announced his commitment to the Ducks on Saturday. Chamberlain began his career at Texas before spending last season with the Chanticleers, appearing in 14 games. He hit .167 in his lone season at Coastal Carolina.

Chamberlain was the No. 22 catcher in the nation coming out of high school in the 2024 class. He played in 22 games with the Longhorns as a freshman but never got the chance to break out. As he makes the trip out west to join the Ducks, Chamberlain could finally realize his full potential.

Oregon was in the market for another catcher after Burke-Lee Mabeus left the program for Mississippi State in the transfer portal. Freshman All-American Brayden Jaksa will likely take over the starting role behind the plate next season, but Chamberlain can step in as valuable depth. The Ducks also have a pair of freshmen catchers entering the fold next season with Trenton Hertzog and Jacob Madrid, both of whom could find their way into the lineup.

Hitting from the left side, Chamberlain does have some power potential. He hit 10 home runs in his high school senior season, setting a record at San Marin High School. If Chamberlain can find a way to become a power threat or dig out consistent knocks, there could be a place for him in a regular rotation in the lineup.
