So far in the 2027 recruiting cycle, the Oregon Ducks have made a big effort defensively. Eight of Oregon's 11 commits so far are on the defensive side of the ball. On offense, the Ducks have taken big swings, landing five-star quarterback Will Mencl and are in the mix for several high-quality wideouts.

Tight end has been a position the Ducks have recruited well in recent years, and Dan Lanning and his staff have their eye on another big target.

Four-star tight end Anthony Cartwright III cut his recruitment down to five schools: Oregon, LSU, Miami, Michigan and Michigan State. Cartwright is not listed in the Rivals300, but he is the No. 16 tight end in the country and No. 8 player in Michigan.

Cartwright, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound figure on the line of scrimmage, could be tough for the Ducks to pull away from his home state of Michigan. The Detroit native has been closely linked to the Wolverines, although Miami appears to be in good standing in his recruitment.

The Ducks have already had Cartwright out to Eugene multiple times, and he will take his official visit to Oregon on the weekend of June 19. That gives the Ducks a good chance to make a big final impression on the recruit before he makes his decision on June 28.

Cartwright is a multi-sport athlete, playing football, baseball and basketball in Detroit, which is something the Ducks typically covet in a recruit. The Ducks also look for size at tight end, which Cartwright has. Kendre Harrison (6-foot-7) and Andrew Olesh (6-foot-5) could serve as a blueprint this season for Cartwright to watch as they back up Jamari Johnson (6-foot-5).

June 19 is shaping up to be another important week of visits for the Ducks. Cartwright will join fellow Oregon targets such as five-star corner Donte Wright (committed to Georgia), four-star lineman Ismael Camara and four-star running back Javian Jones-Priest. Oregon will also get commits four-star linebacker Brandon Lockley Jr. and three-star offensive tackle Avery Michael back on campus.
