Winning a Super Bowl is pivotal to securing your spot in the history of the NFL. For quarterbacks especially, it can either build or doom a legacy. Players like John Elway were able to secure them at the end of their career, while others like Dan Marino went through very successful careers, racked up several records, and fell short of the big one.
All of this is to say, there are several players who could secure their legacy in 2026 with a Super Bowl win. CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo made a list of 15 of them, and he went as far as to include Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray.
DeArdo writes, "Like Baker Mayfield, Murray is a former No. 1 overall pick on a roller coaster of a career. But unlike Mayfield (who is 31 and playing on a team that had a losing record in 2025), the 28-year-old Murray has more time on his side. He also has an ideal situation for 2026. After toiling on mostly subpar teams in Arizona, Murray is going to a Vikings team that won 43 games over the last four years. He's playing for a legitimate quarterback whisperer in coach Kevin O'Connell and with arguably the game's best receiver in Justin Jefferson. J.J. McCarthy is the only thing standing between Murray and a chance to do something special in Minnesota."
Murray is ahead of the likes of Sam Darnold, C.J. Stroud, and even Matthew Stafford. The former Heisman Trophy winner is only 28 as he mentions, but this may be the best chance for Kyler Murray in his career, at a bare minimum the best at this point in his career.
