The Oklahoma Sooners extended their winning streak to nine with a 16-4 run-rule win over UNT on Tuesday evening. The Sooners hit five more home runs and took advantage of a 10-run fourth inning to pull away.
Miali Guachino got the start and threw three scoreless innings, allowing just two base runners and striking out two in what was a pitcher's duel early in the game.
Oklahoma jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Kendall Wells 16th home run of the season. In the second, Kai Minor showed off her speed to reach third on a hit to shallow left field. Isabela Emerling added to the lead with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
After the two teams traded zeroes in the third inning, the Sooners erupted for another double-digit scoring inning against the Mean Green. In the inning, Oklahoma sent 15 batters to the plate, scoring 10 runs on nine hits, including four home runs.
Emerling kicked off the scoring in the frame with a solo home run, her eighth of the season to make it 3-0. Sydney Barker, getting the start at third base for the injured Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, singled and advanced to second after Ailana Agbayani reached base on an error by UNT. Kasidi Pickering drove in Barker on a single, and then Ella Parker cleared the bases with a three-run home run, her eighth of the season. Kendall Wells walked, and with one out, National Freshman of the Week, Lexi McDaniel, singled to put runners on first and third. Minor singled to make it 8-0.
Coming to the plate again with one out and two on in the inning, Emerling hit her second home run of the inning, a three-run shot to make the score 11-0. It was her ninth home run of the season. Barker followed Emerling with a solo home run of her own, her fifth of the year.
In the top of the fifth, Minor and Barker had RBI singles, and Ella Parker closed out the scoring with a two-RBI single to make it 16-0.
After keeping UNT off the board in the fourth, Sydney Berzon struggled in the fifth, allowing four runs on four hits, including a two-run home run. It didn't end up mattering after the offense exploded in the fourth and fifth inning but it's been an up and down season for Berzon after transferring from LSU. Still, she was able to do just enough to get the final out and preserve the win. Guachino moved to 6-0 in the process and has solidified herself as the No. 2 starter in the circle behind Audrey Lowry.
At the plate, it was a 3-for-3 night for Emerling, who drove in five. Parker also drove in five and went 2-for-5. Minor went 4-for-4 and raised her team-leading batting average to .576. The true freshman in the midst of a 17-game hitting streak. She scored three times and had two RBIs on the evening. Barker also had an impressive showing at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
The Sooners have now hit 91 home runs on the season. Eight different Sooners have hit at least five home runs, matching what Oklahoma did at the plate in all of 2025.
Oklahoma is now 20-2 on the season and will return home to Love's Field for a series of games against Louisiana and Abilene Christian this weekend. The Sooners will play four games in three days, including a doubleheader on Saturday. Then they'll take on Tulsa next Wednesday before welcoming the Auburn Tigers to Norman to open SEC play.
