The Oklahoma Sooners boast one of the best duos in college basketball in senior Raegan Beers and freshman Aaliyah Chavez. According to SoonerSports.com, Chavez and Beers are the No. 7 scoring duo in the nation and No. 2 in the SEC. In ESPN's midseason player rankings, Chavez and Beers both rank in the top 20 in the nation.
Beers, a midseason addition to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year watch list, came in at No. 13 in ESPN's rankings. Chavez, in the midst of a Freshman Player of the Year-type season, ranked No. 18.
Beers is averaging 16.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. She's leading the Sooners in blocks per game and is first in the SEC in rebounds per game. She's been great in the middle for the Oklahoma Sooners on both ends of the floor, providing a post presence and helping Oklahoma get easy buckets. Her ability to score from the middle forces teams to help inside, leaving Oklahoma's perimeter players open for threes.
Chavez leads the Sooners with 19.1 and 4.3 assists per game. According to SoonerSports.com, when Chavez leads Oklahoma in assists, the Sooners are 10-0 on the season. She's been everything Oklahoma could have hoped for when they signed the No. 1 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. Chavez has been a dynamic playmaker for the Sooners off the dribble and as a catch-and-shoot perimeter option.
The Oklahoma Sooners are on track to make the NCAA tournament for the fifth-straight season under Jennie Baranczyk and look heading toward a host seed once again. To make noise in the NCAA Tournament, they'll need Beers and Chavez to continue playing at an All-American level.
