The OKC Thunder announced Thursday that it waived Payton Sandfort.

Sandfort joined OKC after going undrafted in 2025. The 6-foot-7 guard mostly played for its G League team, the OKC Blue, averaging 11.3 points and 6 rebounds on 38.7% shooting from the field (34.2% from deep) throughout 20 appearances.

Sandfort then earned a two-way deal with the Thunder on March 2 and appeared in four games near the end of the regular season. He averaged 8.8 points and 2.5 rebounds on 50% shooting from the field (41.2% from deep).

OKC has already agreed to sign Josh Dix, an undrafted rookie out of Creighton, to a two-way contract. It also extended a two-way qualifying offer to second-year forward Brooks Barnhizer on Monday.

The Thunder has a third and final two-way spot open now that Sandfort has been waived and Branden Carlson agreed on a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. It figures to go to former OU and Kentucky guard Otega Oweh, who OKC selected with the No. 41 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Sandfort will still be on OKC's Summer League roster, which was also announced Thursday. The Thunder begins with a game against the Memphis Grizzlies at 2 p.m. CT Saturday in Salt Lake City Summer League.
