Dillon Brooker last night...
dtv extends the other team's bad runs same way villains have done us for years - when team's are struggling he bathes in their misery - throws their mistakes in the air like lebrons baby powder - gets in their heads

He's not at the same level, but he kind of reminds me of Kawhi Leonard, who was thought of as a defense-only player early in his career.

I was talking to a Grizzlies fan last night who absolutely despises Dillon now. Dude has a hate club and I'm trying not to get attached because it seems to be a trend that when he leaves that he'll give us a reason to hate him as well.

He's really exceeded expectations.

Brooks should be able to be Brooks without throwing away games. He has to be a bit smarter.

I just don't know if that's possible. He does so many positive things for the team but if he can't push the boundaries, I'm not sure he'd have the same kind of value. I can live with the Lakers game and his other semi-rare gaffes as long as he doesn't go all serial killer out there - that's Draymond's job even though Brooks has auditioned for the part several times.

This. You have to take the good with the bad for him. Similar to Barkley. IMO, no player has transformed the Suns more than Barkley, Nash and now Brooks. I can't believe how much he has changed the identity of this team.

Listen to what coaches and the media all over the NBA have been saying. If you don't come to play, the Suns are going to beat you up and outplay you physically. That's unreal.

The Suns have a storied past of being a finesse team. I mean decades of being called basically soft and a group of boy scouts.

I can count two games where he potentially screwed up and cost them a game. Last game was one of them- there was no reason to get that tech and get thrown out while giving them a free throw. Second game was really close, and Brooks took a bad three while two other players were on fire- I can't remember who the opponent was. Outside of those two games, he's been great. That's just how he is- he is great, he transforms your team, but once in a while he'll do something stupid. That's fine in my opinion.

The juice is definitely worth the squeeze at this point.

the way our practices are described... if you can't handle the intensity gtfoh

sounds like dtv tested/picked on gillespie early in camp and gillespie gave it right back - earning dtv's respect - from all the earliest accounts that's when the identity started

but there's also a cause and effect taking place during the games - opposing players are playing each suns player like they themselves are dillon the villain - so it's a good thing everybody got tested and picked on in camp

we've beaten the lukas - the spurs - the wolves twice and had a chance to beat okc - you're damn right im riding with dillon

While I agree with you, let’s not give all the credit to Brooks. Ish clearly defined what he wanted this team to become moving forward. He went out and constructed the team accordingly. Ott has to have a lot of credit here too. Cleveland was a defensive team and he brought that here. Give Brooks a ton of credit. But this larger than just him.

It’s crazy to think we’re now known as a defensive team. That’s never been our calling card. Ever.

I agree. It's not all Brooks. Just like it wasn't all Barkley or Nash. However, all of them were MAJOR catalysts and IMO wouldn't have been successful at the transformations without them.
