OFA Girls Softball Coach Emma Ladouceur was very aware of the challenge ahead after her Lady Blue Devils downed Potsdam 14-2 Tuesday to advance into the Section 10 Class B semi-finals against top seeded Canton which posted a perfect record in NAC Central league play.

But that was fine with her.

“We know how tough a game it will be but we will just do our best and give all we have,” said Coach Ladouceur after the fourth seeded Devils (3-12) put together a total postseason package against the fifth seeded Sandstoners (0-15).

Pitcher Colbie O’Shea pounded the strike zone and the Blue Devils used their seven hits to strike while the iron was hot to score five runs in the first inning, three in the fourth and four in the fifth.

“Colbie did a fantastic job pitching today,” said Coach Ladouceur.

Alexis Gary belted a long triple for the Blue Devils and scored three times and Gracyn Barkley stroked two singles. Lauren Bouchard doubled and supplied a strong defensive effort behind the play blocking and scooping low pitches while the infielders and outfielders took sure outs. Chloe Duprey singled and scored two runs and Amya LFlair and Lydia Powers singled

Potsdam leadoff batter Reagan White rapped a double and a single, Destiny Nelson stroked two singles and Adrian Fowler and Madison Cook singled.

In Class B baseball action, Gouverneur advanced to the semi-finals against top-seeded Canton by blanking Norwood-Norfolk 14-0 on Evan Shampine’s two-hitter.
