NEW YORK — It will be blast to the past at Citi Field on Saturday afternoon.

Before the Mets and Marlins play the third game in their four-game series at Citi Field, the Mets are celebrating the 40-year anniversary of the 1986 World Series champions.

The current Mets unit will look to add to the pomp and circumstance by straying from their norm this season. They enter with a 47-64 record and in last place in the NL East. The two teams have split the opening two games of the series, with the Marlins notching a 5-2 victory on Friday night.

The Mets will have their throwback left-hander Zac Thornton on the mound for his sixth start. Thornton has found success early in his career through finesse rather than overpowering teams. He enters with a 2-1 record and 2.43 ERA.

On the other side for the Marlins, Tyler Phillips will be making his 28th appearance and 12th start. He is 2-5 with a 3.52 ERA this season.
