CINCINNATI — The Mets will happily move on from Monday's miserable showing against the Reds.
In the series opener, the Mets left 12 runners on base including three empty chances with the bases loaded. Tobias Myers was shelled in his return to the major-league mound, giving up seven earned runs in 1⅓ innings.
The Mets fell, 12-0, in one of their most lopsided losses of the season.
They will look to erase that from their memory and avoid dropping the series to the Reds at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park.
The second game of the series will feature a return for the Mets.
Kodai Senga will be making his first start since April 26 after experiencing lumbar spine inflammation. He made four rehab starts across three minor league levels, including allowing one earned run in six innings last time out for Double-A Binghamton.
Senga has struggled in the big leagues this season, posting an 0-4 record with 20 earned runs allowed in 20 innings (9.00 ERA).
The Reds will have 29-year-old right-hander Brady Singer on the mound. Singer has scuffled this season, as well, posting a 2-6 record with a 5.61 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in 13 starts this season.
