Jan. 27—KELLIHER — Kate Thayer's outstanding senior season for the Northome/Kelliher girls basketball team continues.
Thayer was named to the Ms. Basketball First Cut List on Tuesday, earning the chance to be named Minnesota's best girls basketball player by the end of the season.
The finalists will be announces March 15, following the state tournament. The winner will be announced on April 10.
Thayer became Minnesota girls high school basketball's all-time steals leader
earlier this season,
passing Mountain Iron's Chelsea Mason with 922 career steals.
She just passed the 1,000 steals mark Monday against Mahnomen/Waubun.
She also passed the
3,000 career points
mark last week against Laporte, the first player to do so for Northome/Kelliher.
