CUMBERLAND — Chris Manherz forced extra time with a penalty-kick score, but Class 3A power Linganore found the golden goal to defeat No. 2 Allegany, 3-2, on Saturday at Greenway Avenue Stadium.
Allegany (9-2-2) drew even at 2-2 in the 79th minute on Manherz's goal, but John Griffin won it in overtime for Linganore (10-1) in the sixth overtime minute.
Linganore's Wyatt Valenzuela struck first 22:43 into the match before Lincoln Isom drew Allegany level, assisted by Ryan Thomassy, with 43 seconds left prior to intermission.
Linganore had a 23-10 edge in shots and 7-2 margin in corner kicks. Alco keeper Eoin Mowbray made eight saves, and Linganore's Brooks Acton had two stops.
Allegany is at Bishop Walsh on Saturday at noon.

CUMBERLAND — Bishop Walsh routed Chestnut Ridge in Homecoming on Saturday behind a Jackson Miller hat trick at Rowan Field.
The Spartans (8-8-1) led 3-0 at the half. Carson Hamelin scored two first-half goals, assisted by Miller (5:00) and Mani Vahedi (20:00), and Miller found the back of the net off a Enoch Zheng pass in the 37th minute.
Miller added two more in the second half, both off Hamelin assists, in the 48th and 59th minutes.
Bishop Walsh led in shots 16-3 and corner kicks 3-1. Spartans' keeper James Maybury had three saves, and Chestnut Ridge's Josh Howsare had eight.
Bishop Walsh hosts Mountain Ridge (5-5-2) on Monday at 4 p.m.
