Nick Woltemade to stay put for now amid silly season craziness

Nick Woltemade might not be leaving Newcastle United after all or he might…it’s chaos, but per Seb Stafford-Bloor of The Athletic, rumors of Woltemade formally being given permission to leave via loan were falsely attributed to his colleague David Ornstein and are untrue.

Amid alleged interest from Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal, Woltemade does not appear to have many concrete options at the moment. ChronicleLive dismissed a potential move to BVB for Woltemade:

Chronicle Live understands that Woltemade’s representatives have had no approaches on any transfer activity so far this summer, and the £69m man is ready to battle for his place next season.

Meanwhile, there have been stories linking Woltemade to Arsenal, but those also seem like a longshot for the towering German. For now, Woltemade looks like he ha an uphill battle ahead of him for playing time, unless some drastic changes at Newcastle or in the transfer market.

BFW Analysis​

The summer transfer window is going to keep everyone on their toes. As the false information on Woltemade spread to outlets globally, the German was making his way to Newcastle’s training camp. The reality for the big attacker is that a move likely would not be the worst thing in the world for him.

Woltemade’s first season with the Magpies was lackluster, but he is back for another campaign, at least so far. As for what is next, Woltemade and Newcastle United will have to come together on a plan.

Woltemade appeared to be the odd-man out in the Magpies attack. It is a new season, though, and as doubtful as it might seem, Woltemade still could potentially break through in England.

The odds, however, do seem to be against that happening as the Germany international might have fallen out of favor with the coaching staff. If he does eventually make a move this summer, it would be great to see him back in Germany, where he could reboot after a tough season in 2025/26.

The big man’s future with the German national team could be in jeopardy if he spends 2026/27 on the bench.
