The Philadelphia 76ers made a move before the road trip when they brought in MarJon Beauchamp from their G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, on a two-way deal. Beauchamp was averaging 26.5 points and shooting 50% from deep in five games for the Blue Coats in the tip off tournament.
The Sixers have been dealing with a bout of illness as of late as they have had to battle through a multitude of players missing games. Philadelphia wanted to add some more depth on the wing so it brought in Beauchamp while having to waive rookie Hunter Sallis who occupied one of the three two-way slots.
A former first-round pick of the Milwaukee Bucks in 2022, one has to wonder if Beauchamp will have a chance to crack coach Nick Nurse's rotation.
"Possibly," Nurse told reporters in Chicago. "I think that when we left the arena the other night, we weren't sure how many people were going to get on the plane, right? So, we’re just trying to be as prepared as we can with bodies. We need them. He's got some experience. We've had a few days in practice with him early on, and he certainly held his own, and I like what we saw there, which is why we got him now."
As far as NBA experience is concerned, Beauchamp has played 135 career games with the Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, and New York Knicks with career averages of 4.1 and 1.9 rebounds to bring to the Sixers.
