CAMDEN, N.J. -- The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing to work their way through preseason camp in an effort to get ready for the 2025-26 season. They are still dealing with injuries as Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Jared McCain all work their way back from injuries, but the roster appears better equipped to work its way through an 82-game grind.
They added an intriguing young piece in the form of former first-round pick MarJon Beauchamp who was selected No. 24 overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2022 NBA draft. He has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers and the New York Knicks.
Originally supposed to be on a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, Beauchamp was waived which opened the door for him to join the Sixers. He has a little familiarity with the team due to his short time playing for former Bucks coach Adrian Griffin who was an assistant under Nick Nurse when both were in Toronto.
"I played for Adrian Griffin, who was under coach," Beauchamp said at practice on Wednesday. "I feel like I just bring good energy, my length, I can shoot the ball, run out in transition and just play fast. So, I've been watching them a little bit in the preseason and how fast they're playing. I just love how they play."
In three seasons, Beauchamp has career averages of 4.1 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 35.4%. He will be looking to bring that type of production to the Sixers while in the middle of camp. The 6-foot-6 wing has been keeping an eye on Philadelphia throughout the preseason trying to pick up everything Nurse and his staff is trying to implement.
"I was kind of on the sideline, trying to figure out all the plays and stuff like that," Beauchamp added. "Just try to be me, of course, and just try to play hard and do everything as hard as I can and try to pick up as fast as I can. Just try to keep on picking up things on the defensive side, of course. That’s probably the most important thing I got to focus on. Just trying to pick up, like, all the tendencies."
Beauchamp is here on an Exhibit 10 and is likely ticketed to the G League once the preseason is over, but he is somebody with NBA experience and the Sixers can give him a look should they need it in the future.
