On Saturday, one of the first shots of the Tennessee Titans’ draft picks, Carnell Tate and Nick Singleton, from the NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles, was released in a group photo. But that wasn’t the only piece of social media that was released.
Later in the evening, the NFLPA released a hype video of Tate, who was the first wide receiver off the board in a first round that was packed with receiver talent.
The Titans surprised many with the selection of Tate, and it became one of the draft's more polarizing first-round picks. While Tate appears to have the talent to make an early impact, the lack of elite measurables led many to question the value of the pick. But the Titans liked what they saw.
A big outside receiver, who has shown the ability to get deep and be a reliable target in traffic, he should be able to come in and secure a starting role early. Yes, there are some questions about his measurables, and he didn’t participate in some of the combine drills, but his tape shows a dynamic threat who has improved throughout his career, and he should be viewed as a high-floor prospect who can come in and make an impact.
Titans is under contract and should be back in Nashville in time to kick off offseason team activities (OTAs) this week.
